The Fears of Pottermore

I am in a state of constant roller coaster as far as Pottermore goes. I check my email religiously, waiting for my "Welcome" letter (is this what wizarding children felt like waiting for their Hogwarts letter?) to come, but at the same time dreading it. And for one reason. Just one. The Sorting.

I know I'm not the only one worried about this. In fact, I think about half of my Facebook friends are freaking. And Alex Carpenter pretty much put my concerns into song. To the tee.

Seriously...what if Pottermore sorts me into the wrong house. I have identified with Hufflepuff for so long. I think I could come to terms with Ravenclaw, or even Slytherin if I had to. But I do not know what I will do if I get sorted into Gryffindor.

....god. To anyone outside the fandom, this probably sounds completely insane.

In other news, No New Stuff is going well. I didn't buy anything at all this week (well, except for groceries and some meds to get rid of my cold/flu/sickness) because I have been sick all week. So it's been an easy one.

  1. Funny that Gryffindor is the one House you couldn't deal with. I think I'd be okay with anything except Slytherin, really, but Ravenclaw is the House of my heart!

  2. I was sorted into Gryffindor, but I am not a Gryffindor at all. I wanted Hufflepuff and I have only every identified as Hufflepuff. It doesn't actually bother me that much. Gryffindor is so far from my personality and who I am that I just don't accept my Pottermore sorting at all. If I had gotten Ravenclaw, and maybe Slytherin, I would have been more upset because I feel like I could be in those houses and maybe i've been lying to myself saying I'm a Hufflepuff, but Gryffindor just makes no sense for me. If you want to avoid Slytherin stay away from answers that are water related. My friend is interested in things like marine biology, so she chose quite a few water related answers, and ended up in Slytherin, when she is definitely not Slytherin at all. I know that Jo has said that the houses relate to the elements, but just because my friend likes fish doesn't mean she is a Slytherin...I think Pottermore sorting, even though JKR made up the questions, is pretty flawed. I don't know anyone who got into the house they identify with.

  3. I am so bad at checking comments!

I know a few people who got into the houses they identified with, but the more I hear about it, the more I think you're right, Jenny, it's really flawed. I pretty much agree with everything you said about Houses there too.
